Matthew Craig
Cello
Matthew Craig, 20, is a cellist and second-year mechanical engineering student at the University of Alberta, originally from Calgary. He holds an ARCT diploma in Cello Performance and has studied under distinguished teachers, including Andrea Case, Beth Root Sandvoss, and Rafael Hokeman. Matthew has collaborated with world-class musicians and ensembles at programs like Domaine Forget, Quartet Fest West, the Advanced Performance Program and the National Youth Orchestra of Canada. Matthew’s chamber music experience includes 11 years with the Amici String Program, alongside performances at summer festivals with ensembles such as the Lafayette, Penderecki, and Bellas Artes String Quartets. Beyond classical music, he was a member of the drum line in the Sound of the Rockies Marching Band and the bassist for its jazz band from 2021-2024.
